Mexican Miss Universe Fatima Bosch responded to questions about her Miss Universe coronation during a question-and-answer session at Harvard University and defended her decision to keep the title, stating: “No, of course I’m not going to resign because I worked hard for that crown and that’s why I won.”

The intervention occurred after an attendee, who identified herself as an organizational psychologist, publicly questioned the legitimacy of the Miss Universe pageant results.

During the session, the organizational psychologist directly addressed Fatima Bosch: “It’s public knowledge that the owner of Miss Universe (…) said he had 70 percent of the decision on who won the crown, and six of the eight judges said they didn’t vote for you.”

When asked why she decided to keep the crown instead of returning it as a form of protest, Bosch defended her victory and presented the student with a hypothetical scenario.

“As a psychologist, if you work very hard for something and your colleague next to you, who didn’t get the position you did, lies to discredit the fact that you were awarded it, would you resign?” the Mexican Miss Universe responded.

During the exchange, the young Harvard student reiterated that the Miss Universe results had been determined by the pageant’s owner, accusing Fátima Bosch of not deserving the crown.
