Under a maximum security operation, Andrés Felipe Marín Silva, known as “Pipe Tuluá,” was transferred from the Los Mártires Police Station to the CATAM Air Base in Bogotá for his extradition to the United States, where he faces multiple charges for transnational crimes.

The operation was confirmed by Defense Minister Pedro Sánchez, who explained that President Gustavo Petro’s order expedited the process, ensuring that the criminal’s handover would proceed smoothly. The transfer of the wanted man was initially scheduled for the following Thursday, but the presidential order moved the operation forward to the early morning of Tuesday, February 3, after reports surfaced of alleged bribery attempts to prevent his extradition to U.S. authorities.

“In compliance with your order, President Gustavo Petro. Alias ‘Pipe Tuluá’ was extradited to the United States.” Idárraga also highlighted what he claims is a historic milestone in the operation, with 809 extraditions: “The Petro administration broke the historical record with 809 extraditions: 6.3% more than Duque and 7.6% more than Uribe’s second term. International judicial cooperation did not weaken; it was strengthened with a firm policy against organized crime.”
