Carlos Torres Torres, ex-husband of the Governor of Baja California (BC), Marina del Pilar Ávila Olmeda, released a video on social media Wednesday in which he categorically rejected the anonymous accusations against him, stemming from an investigation opened by the Attorney General’s Office (FGR).
In his statement, Torres presented himself as “an ordinary person” and asserted that he is not “the criminal some have portrayed him to be on social media,” noting that many things have been said about him recently. “Some are serious accusations, others are suppositions, and still others are rumors that are repeated without anyone taking responsibility,” he stated.
The former head of special projects for the Baja California government also affirmed his full cooperation with the authorities and expressed confidence that the evidence will prove his innocence, adding that “the truth doesn’t need shouting, it needs evidence, and it will come out.” Torres’s public statement comes amid growing controversy following the confirmation in late January that the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) has an open investigation against him for alleged organized crime offenses. The investigation stems from an anonymous complaint filed in June 2025, accusing him of money laundering, drug trafficking, and arms dealing.
