‘Mexico City authorities executed an arrest warrant for criminal association against Sergio Iván Hinostroza, alias El M24 or ‘The Monster of La Unión,’ a close associate of Óscar Andrés Flores, alias El Lunares, former leader of the La Unión Tepito criminal group, who was arrested in February 2020.
Investigations indicate that ‘The Monster of La Unión’ led a cell of that organization known as Los Orejones, linked to crimes such as homicide, extortion, protection rackets, and the sale and distribution of drugs.
Their activities are concentrated primarily in the Nueva Atzacoalco and Vasco de Quiroga neighborhoods, in the Gustavo A. Madero borough.
The arrest warrant against him was obtained by the Attorney General’s Office (FGJ) on January 7, 2026. Five days later, as a result of intelligence work and analysis of C5 surveillance camera footage, agents of the Investigative Police (PDI) located the accused at a residence in the municipality of Tlalnepantla, State of Mexico.
The accused was transferred to the East Men’s Preventive Prison, where he was presented before the judicial authority, which will determine his legal status according to law.
Information from the SSC indicates that “The Monster of La Unión” works directly for two individuals identified as “El Cabezón” and “El Tuna.”
