US authorities identified Cristian Fernando Gutiérrez Ochoa, alias “El Guacho,” as the personification of cartel arrogance after the announcement of his 140-month prison sentence and three years of probation, which he will serve in a US prison.

The former leader of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) and son-in-law of “El Mencho” drew criticism from DEA Administrator Terrance Cole after attempting to evade US authorities and ending up behind bars.

“El Guacho,” 28, originally from Michoacán, used false identities and collaborated with other members of the CJNG to launder millions of dollars obtained from drug trafficking. This and other crimes reportedly led Cole to declare that he embodied the arrogance of the cartels.

Cristian Fernando Gutiérrez Ochoa, known as “El Guacho” and son-in-law of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes “El Mencho,” was cited by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as an example of the arrogance with which cartels operate in the United States.
