Kristi Noem, head of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), accused the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) of causing chaos in her country.
She made this statement during a hearing before the U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Homeland Security in Washington, D.C., where she accused both Mexican cartels of harming U.S. interests.
“Transnational organized crime groups, including Mexico’s Sinaloa Cartel, Jalisco New Generation Cartel, and other drug cartels, cause chaos and harm U.S. interests,” the official asserted, despite being interrupted several times.
During the hearing, Noem also addressed the issue of illegal immigration to the United States, accusing undocumented immigrants of committing crimes against children and families.
