Congressman Carlos Bautista Tafolla, a member of the Hat Movement, announced to the press that, following the legacy of the late mayor of Uruapan, Carlos Manzo, the political project will seek the governorship of the state of Michoacán and then pursue the presidency.

Surrounded by the media, the congressman stated that they will continue with Manzo’s plans; and to that end, they have adopted the current mayor of Uruapan, Grecia Quiroz, as the leader of the Hat Movement.

“She takes exactly the position that Carlos held; for us, that’s what Grecia represents,” he declared.

He also reiterated the comments made by legislator Gerardo Fernández Noroña regarding Quiroz “being driven by political interests,” in addition to labeling her “irresponsible” for seeking the leadership of Michoacán.

“It’s unacceptable that, with the pain she’s suffering because the love of her life, our moral leader, our leader of the movement, has just been killed, some puppet, a sexist, comes along and speaks to and discredits a person like that,” Tafolla stated.

The congressman asked Morena to punish Fernández Noroña and “cleanse its ranks of that type of person,” questioning a possible bias by recalling cases like that of legislator Cuauhtémoc Blanco.

The Morena member’s most recent controversy was an alleged case of symbolic and sexual violence, denounced by Congresswoman Martha Aracely Cruz Jiménez of the Labor Party (PT) on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
