Seven bodyguards of Carlos Manzo arrested; already incarcerated in state prison for their alleged negligence in the mayor’s murder on November 1st during the Day of the Dead celebrations.
Investigative agents from the Michoacán Attorney General’s Office made the arrests inside the municipal House of Culture, where the deceased mayor had his office.
The detainees, six men and one woman, were transferred to Morelia in an operation involving federal and state forces. They were then taken to the David Franco Rodríguez Social Rehabilitation Center in the municipality of Charo.
The Attorney General’s Office stated that they had arrest warrants for the crime of aggravated homicide, committed by omission.
Police sources revealed to Excélsior that among those arrested was the bodyguard who shot and killed the minor Víctor Manuel “N”, identified as the perpetrator of the murder.
Meanwhile, the hearing for Jorge Armando “N”, identified as the mastermind behind the crime and imprisoned in the Altiplano federal prison, was postponed.
The legal proceedings are on hold pending the appearance of the mayor’s bodyguards before the authorities, as the intention is to resolve everything in a single session.
