The festive atmosphere of a horse race at the Santa Teresa racetrack in Parral, Chihuahua, turned into tragedy on November 15, 2025, when an armed confrontation left at least seven people dead, according to preliminary reports from multiple media outlets.
The attack, which occurred while the equestrian competitions were underway, mobilized local and federal forces, who arrived at the scene to control the situation and protect the attendees.
According to information confirmed by Jorge Alberto Armendáriz Fernández, spokesperson for the State Public Security Secretariat (SSPE), the death toll rose to seven, although authorities continue to gather information to clarify the events. Local sources indicate that members of La Línea, the armed wing of the Juárez Cartel, allegedly executed key members of Los Salgueiro, a family that serves as the armed wing of the Sinaloa Cartel.
The Santa Teresa racetrack in Parral became a scene of violence after seven regional commanders of the “Los Salgueiro” criminal group were allegedly killed by members of “La Línea,” a rival organization that has been vying for control of the territory and its surrounding areas.
According to local reporters, around 4:30 p.m., some attendees reported an intense shootout, as well as chases, roadblocks on the Parral-Jiménez highway, and clashes in Valle de Allende.
