Carlos Villagrán, known for his role as Quico in “El Chavo del 8,” recounted that he received a multimillion-dollar offer to perform at a private party hosted by Pablo Escobar, head of the Medellín Cartel, but turned it down for fear of the possible consequences.

Five years ago, during an interview with América TV in Argentina, Carlos Villagrán recalled that, while staying at the Tequendama Hotel in Bogotá, he was approached by three men who requested a meeting.

The visitors showed up carrying a briefcase, from which they took a checkbook and an unusual proposal: “Tomorrow is our boss’s daughter’s birthday. He wants you to perform. Name any number you want, up to a million dollars.” The offer was clear: to perform as Quico at a children’s party organized by one of the most notorious leaders of Colombian drug trafficking.

“My body went cold; I wasn’t expecting anything like this. I thought of telling them that I had a clause stating that I couldn’t do anything more than what I came for. They respected that, closed their checkbooks, closed their briefcases, said their final goodbyes, and left.
