Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection Omar García Harfuch announced the arrest of Jhon Mario “N,” alias “Llanero,” linked to extortion in the lemon sector and responsible for recruiting and training members of the criminal group in the town of Pizándaro, in the municipality of Buenavista, Michoacán.
Through his social media account, the spokesperson for the Federal Government’s Security Cabinet highlighted that, within the framework of the National Strategy against Extortion and as a result of inter-institutional collaboration, members of the Ministry of National Defense (Defense), the Ministry of the Navy (Semar), the Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the National Guard (GN), and the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), supported by the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), the Ministry of Public Security (SSP), both of Michoacán, and the State Government, arrested a man involved in collecting extortion payments from the lemon sector.
Operating in Tierra Caliente and Apatzingán
He stated that, as a result of intelligence and investigation work to protect agricultural production in the country, an individual was identified operating in the Tierra Caliente and Apatzingán region linked to extortion. Therefore, security agents implemented an inter-agency operation in the town of Pizandaro, in the municipality of Buenavista, where they arrested Jhon Mario “N,” identified as being responsible for recruiting and training members of the criminal group, as well as for making homemade explosive devices.
He was seized with a loaded handgun, tactical equipment, drug doses, and a vehicle.
During his arrest, he was read his legal rights and, along with the confiscated items, was placed at the disposal of the corresponding Public Ministry agent, who will determine his legal status.
