Soccer player Rafa Mir, currently a forward for Elche on loan from Sevilla, has been charged with alleged sexual assault following a hearing at the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV).

According to court information, Rafa Mir must pay bail of 12,500 euros (266,583 Mexican pesos), while another player implicated in the case, identified as Pablo Jara, who faces the same charge, will pay bail of 5,000 euros (106,633 Mexican pesos).

Spanish authorities emphasize that both players are summoned to give a statement on October 13, although in the case of the forward, the hearing will be conducted online at the request of his defense, so it will not be known whether he is guilty until then.

The investigating judge in the case considers that there is sufficient evidence, not just mere suspicions, that Rafa M.V. had sexually assaulted one of the two young women with whom he, Pablo J.G., and a third individual had previously met at a nightclub in Valencia.

The events under investigation occurred in the early hours of September 1, 2024, at Mir’s home, located in a residential area of Bétera, Valencia. According to the court order, the alleged abuse took place in the swimming pool and in a bathroom of the home.

Regarding Pablo J.G., the judge also sees evidence of a crime of “sexual assault without carnal knowledge” and a minor crime of bodily harm against a second woman, which also occurred in the swimming pool of the property. Therefore, they are seeking justice against the two players.
