The murder of Colombian rapper B-King (Bayron Sánchez Salazar) and DJ Regio Clown (Jorge Luis Herrera Lemos) in the State of Mexico has brought the dark ties between the Clan del Golfo and Mexico’s major cartels into the spotlight. The State of Mexico Attorney General’s Office and the Attorney General’s Office are investigating the crime, which could be related to drug trafficking scores.
The musicians’ bodies were found on September 17 in Cocotitlán, showing signs of torture and dismembered. A message attributed to La Familia Michoacana was found next to them, leading authorities to explore a possible conflict between criminal groups.
The story took an unexpected turn when Colombian media outlets alluded to statements B-King made in 2022, in which he claimed to be the nephew of Camilo Torres Martínez, alias “Fritanga,” one of the leaders of the Clan del Golfo. “He’s a very charitable person; he’s surely Robin Hood for many people in Colombia,” he said in an interview with the program Lo Sé Todo.
However, from the La Paz prison in Itagüí, Fritanga denied having any direct kinship with the artist. “He’s the nephew of an ex-partner I had more than 13 years ago, a family with whom I have no relationship,” he stated in an interview with El Tiempo.
