The Mexico City Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) announced the menu for Monday, September 15th, at the Center for Administrative Sanctions and Social Integration, El Torito, where drivers who drive under the influence of alcohol and those who violate Article 50 of the current Traffic Regulations and the Civic Culture Law are taken.
According to the Mexico City agency, this year a menu will be offered consisting of elbow macaroni soup, pambazos, traditional sweets for dessert, and flavored water. Reward or punishment?
Despite the commemorative menu for the national holidays and the 15th anniversary of the beginning of Mexico’s Independence, Mexico City authorities urged residents and visitors of Mexico City not to drive after consuming intoxicating beverages.
Additionally, they indicated that driving motor vehicles while having an illegal amount of alcohol in the blood, as well as driving under the influence of narcotics, intoxicants, or psychotropic substances while driving, is prohibited, as established in Article 50 of the current Traffic Regulations of the nation’s capital.
It is important to note that Mexico City police officers will conduct security patrols and surveillance tours to prevent illegal acts and maintain public order in Mexico City’s 16 boroughs.
“Likewise, personnel from the Undersecretariat of Traffic Control will implement road safety measures to ensure pedestrian and vehicular mobility at different points in the nation’s capital, and will also prevent unauthorized parking of vehicles that reduce road capacity,” the SSC stated.
Regarding the Drive Without Alcohol Program, it began on the night of Thursday, September 11, and will conclude on Tuesday, September 16. These are checkpoints that operate 24 hours a day, to provide coverage in all the municipalities of the country’s capital.
