A man originally from Mexico was detained by border agents after several packages containing suspected methamphetamine and others containing suspected cocaine were discovered inside a cooler in a vehicle.
The arrest of the 46-year-old man, who was driving a Nissan Frontier pickup truck, was reported by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on September 3.
On August 31, one of the officers referred the man for a secondary inspection near the Eagle Pass port of entry (which connects Coahuila, Mexico, with Texas). With the help of dogs and after a physical examination, officers found the packages containing the aforementioned substances.
A total of 27 pounds (just over 12 kilograms) of methamphetamine were seized, along with 2.3 pounds (more than a kilo) of cocaine.
