The Ministry of Defense has reinforced the Sinaloa police force with special forces officers and commanders and will recruit 150 state agents who will be trained as a highly trusted elite group.
The new state officers will be hired under military standards, announced the head of the Ministry of National Security (Sedena), Ricardo Trevilla, who emphasized that the candidates will undergo “rigorous physical, medical, psychological, toxicological, axiological, and trust evaluations.”
“Once approved, they will be trained by specialized instructors from the National Guard,” he explained while leading a recruitment and training agreement with the government of Sinaloa in Culiacán, together with the federal Secretary of Security, Omar García Harfuch.
At the same event, García Harfuch delivered 100 state-of-the-art patrol cars to the state.
Trevilla revealed that since July 20, a strategy has been implemented in the state to fill command positions in the State Police and install monitoring centers operated exclusively by the military.
“Regarding support for state authorities, the most relevant actions are the filling of command and leadership positions in public security structures and the reinforcement of the State Police with special forces, weapons, and equipment.” such as equipment and armored vehicles,” he said.
Almost a year after the start of the war between the heirs of Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán and Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada, this elite force will be the first of its kind to be formed within the local forces of Sinaloa, characterized by a high penetration of organized crime and where leaks of sensitive data have been detected during operations in the past.
