American Pastor and Wife Move to Mexico City to Preach and Are Shot in Their Home

An American pastor and his wife were injured after a suspected thief entered their home in Mexico City and shot them. According to the victims’ families, the incident occurred early Saturday morning, August 16th, around 3:00 a.m., while the couple was sleeping in the communal area of their home, where they had moved just two months earlier.

The victims of the attack were identified as Tyler Wallis, a Mormon mission president, and his wife, Elizabeth, who moved to Mexico City two months ago as part of a preaching mission for their church. Initial reports, shared on Facebook by the family, suggest that a man entered their home with the intent to rob them.

During the attack, the alleged attacker left the pastor injured. Despite the seriousness of the situation, Tyler was rushed to a local hospital, where he received medical attention:
