Yucaipa Community Holds Vigil for Missing 7-Month-Old Boy Amid Investigation Concerns

Concern and questions continue to grow over the whereabouts of a missing baby in Yucaipa.

A candelight vigil was held on Sunday night for 7-month-old Emmanuel Haro, who has been missing since Thursday.

His mother said she was attacked and knocked unconscious, and when she came to her, her baby was gone. But now, deputies are revealing there were inconsistencies in the mother’s story.

On Sunday, the community came together, but it wasn’t in support of Emmanuel’s parents.

Approximately 72 hours after Emmanuel was reportedly kidnapped from a Yucaipa parking lot, police were spotted at the Cabazon home where the 7-month-old’s parents live.
Why they were there, or whether there are any new breaks in the case, remains unknown.

As investigators asked for the community’s patience in the still very active case, dozens of people showed up for a vigil, praying for the infant’s safe return.

“I have a baby at home who I’m going to go home and hug, extra tighter, because that baby is innocent,” said Jackie from Yucapia.

Those who showed up to the candlelight vigil focused on the baby boy and not the growing rumors around what might’ve happened to him.

“We can be the voice that he’s not here to have, and we can be supportive for him,” said Heather Walker from Yucaipa. The boy’s mother, Rebecca Haro, says she was changing her son’s diaper in the Big 5 parking lot in Yucaipa on Thursday night just before 8 p.m., when she was assaulted from behind and knocked out.

She told Eyewitness News that when she came to, Emmanuel was gone. She said she never saw the suspect and had a visible black eye during the interview.

“I got him out of the car seat, and I laid him down so I could get his diapers ready, and someone said, ‘Hello,’ and that’s all I remember. I saw white, and I fell on the floor, and as soon as I got up, I couldn’t find my son. I checked all around my truck,” Rebecca said.

In an update this weekend, the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department told the story Rebecca told detectives had inconsistencies, and when confronted about it, she ended the interview with investigators.
