Erick “Terrible” Morales Removed from Tijuana City Hall for Alleged Sexual Abuse

The Secretary of Welfare for the Tijuana City Hall, Erick “Terrible” Morales, was removed from his position for an alleged attempted rape.

According to the events described by the victim, the former boxer summoned her to his office to discuss work matters, at which point Morales closed the door and attempted to assault his coworker.

The incident took place in Tijuana City Hall, where the employee managed to escape after a struggle ensued in which “Terrible” allegedly groped her and attempted to have sex with the employee.

This attempted rape occurred last Friday, July 4th. However, the complaint was filed with the Baja California State Attorney General’s Office (FGE BC) until July 10th.

A day later, on July 11, Erick Morales was notified that his position as Secretary of Welfare would no longer continue, and he was dismissed by the city’s mayor, Ismael Burgueño.

The state prosecutor’s office will determine whether the former public official and former boxer is found guilty of attempted rape.

Before joining the current Tijuana City Council administration, Erick “Terrible” Morales sought to be the Morena candidate for mayor of the city.

However, that position was filled by Ismael Burgueño, who is currently the mayor of Tijuana.

After his appointment as Secretary of Welfare, Morales was criticized and singled out by citizens and opposition parties, after it was deemed that he lacked the necessary experience to be an official.

This is not the first time that the latter has been accused of sexual abuse and harassment, which took place in 2013 at a gym owned by the former boxer.

Due to the previous ruling, Morales was unable to run for mayor of Tijuana; that investigation remains in the hands of the Federal District Attorney’s Office (FGE).
