It was in 2019 when the voices of the members of the group “Los Ronaldos” were suddenly silenced. Their deaths shocked not only their followers but thousands of people, including witnesses who witnessed the direct attack on the Mendoza brothers, who had gained popularity due to their performances of narco corridos.

The victims of the attack were identified as Luis Carlos Mendoza, the group’s vocalist, and his brother Ronny Mendoza García, who was also a member of the band. Both were traveling in a white van when they were gunned down by armed men. Videos of the exact moment of the attack circulate on social media, and according to local sources, between 100 and 300 spent shell casings were found.

Hours before their execution, the Mendoza brothers, members of the group “Los Ronaldos,” had attended the funeral of one of their friends, known as “Pepe Gangas,” who had also been shot dead days earlier. The connection between the two murders did not go unnoticed by authorities, but so far no information has been released confirming a direct relationship between the two events.

During their tour of the streets of Ciudad Obregón, the musicians noticed at least two vehicles following them. There was no time to escape. When they reached the intersection of Morelos Boulevard and Coahuila Boulevard, the attack that would end their lives began.

Witnesses claim the shooting was devastating. Bursts from long-range weapons echoed throughout the area, causing panic among motorists and pedestrians. The SUV in which Luis Carlos and Ronny were traveling suffered high-caliber bullet wounds throughout its structure. Videos circulating on social media show the magnitude of the attack: the vehicle was completely destroyed, with multiple punctures in the doors, windshield, and body.
