In Sonora, federal authorities intercepted a tractor-trailer transporting more than 700 kilos of drugs hidden among coffee beans. During these operations, they arrested a suspect identified as a Sinaloa Cartel operative.
The operations took place in the municipality of San Luis Río Colorado, where security agents were stationed at a surveillance checkpoint. As part of their work, agents observed a tractor-trailer attempting to flee the scene to avoid the checkpoint.
Given the unit’s evasive maneuvers, federal forces proceeded to catch up with it to conduct a routine search. It was during these operations that they realized the tractor-trailer was transporting dozens of bundles of narcotics.
A total of 701 kilos of cocaine distributed in packages of coffee beans were seized. According to the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), this is equivalent to 201 million doses.
