Colombian artist Shakira’s concert tour took an unexpected turn after an incident at one of her performances in the United States.
The New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) reported on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, about a possible case of mass measles transmission, which has put travelers and concertgoers on alert.
This was one of the stops on the Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, the successful concert tour the Barranquilla native is undertaking in 2025, and is now the eighth in her musical career.
This case, as explained in the statement from the New Jersey authorities, was recorded at this location:
An alert was issued to residents and travelers attending the event due to “potential exposures associated with a newly identified case of measles in a non-New Jersey resident who was at the concert during their contagious period,” according to the official statement.
The message also urged parents, guardians, healthcare providers, and caregivers in particular to “be alert for symptoms of this highly contagious virus and to keep their measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccinations up to date.”
