US authorities arrested six alleged members of the Sinaloa Cartel and seized 3 million fentanyl pills, the largest amount in history.
“We have achieved the largest seizure of fentanyl in the history of the United States. It is our nation’s greatest victory in the fight against drugs so far,” reported Attorney General Pam Bondi.
“We seized 11.5 kilos of fentanyl, which is 3 million pills, (…) we captured six members of the Sinaloa Cartel who were in our country illegally,” she added.
The Attorney General detailed that among those arrested is Alberto Salazar, leader of the criminal cell, who had millions of dollars in cash, as well as luxury cars.
“It took us months and months of work and investigation. We started with small distributors and buyers, until we reached this massive amount of drugs and weapons: five million dollars in cash, 35 kilos of methamphetamine, 7.5 kilos of cocaine, 4.5 kilos of heroin, and 45 rifles and pistols,” he added.
Bondi promised that the government he represents will not negotiate with any of the criminals who bring “weapons of mass destruction like fentanyl” into the United States.
“The precursors are manufactured in China, shipped to Mexico, and from there trafficked into our country. We carried out a massive operation, the success of which was thanks to the leadership of the DEA,” he commented.
