Every Californian should have access to clean, safe, and reliable drinking water.
Our state’s devastating drought is at its worst point yet. Already, Gov. Jerry Brown has called for a 25% statewide reduction in water use -- and now summer, the peak season for water use in our state, is upon us.
In this severe drought, families can’t enjoy rituals like going to the neighborhood pool. Streams, rivers, and lakes are drying up. And according to the Center for Investigative Reporting, California has had to take so much water out of the ground that the state is actually sinking.
If we don’t cut back on water use this summer, things are going to get much worse.
EVERY Californian has an obligation to take action. We can take steps this summer to conserve our most precious resource, or we can keep watching our wells run dry.
It isn’t hard to do our part!
It’s time to turn off our sprinklers, fix our leaky toilets, and shorten our showers. Help protect our resources: Pledge to save water during the California drought, before it’s too late.
