In the municipality of Jerez, Zacatecas, messages circulated via channels linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) boasted of the death of a hitman from the “Bruno Reaction Group” (G.D.R.B.)—an operational wing tied to “La Mayiza,” a faction of the Sinaloa Cartel—following a series of clashes near the municipal seat and surrounding communities.
The confrontations stemmed from the deployment of a CJNG cell known as the “Zápari New Generation Special Forces” (F-Z NG), which entered the mountainous region of Zacatecas to contest control over trafficking routes and operational zones.
The armed clash forced local groups to retreat and triggered significant activity by state and federal security forces.
Units from the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), the National Guard, and the Zacatecas State Attorney General’s Office (FGJE) launched surveillance operations, ground patrols, and aerial reconnaissance across the rural trails and roads surrounding Jerez, aiming to locate other individuals involved in the armed attacks and ensure security within the area.
