The Secretariat of the Navy (Semar) announced the arrest of Miguel Ángel “N”—alias “Sol” and/or “Mike”—who was captured this Friday in Zapopan, Jalisco, for his alleged involvement in organized crime related to hydrocarbon-related offenses.

The operation was carried out following investigative and intelligence work, technical data analysis, and inter-agency coordination, according to the Semar statement. The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) and the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) also participated in the action.

Miguel Ángel Solano Ruiz has been identified in prior investigations as “El Capitán Sol,” a retired Navy corvette captain and the alleged leader of a network involved in tax-evasion fuel fraud (*huachicol fiscal*) operating through the country’s maritime customs offices. In criminal case file 325/2025, the FGR identifies him as a key figure in the scheme, responsible for managing payments to customs officials.

According to the National Detention Registry, the arrest took place at a property located at the intersection of Siena and Águila streets in the San Juan Ocotán neighborhood of Zapopan, Jalisco. Miguel Ángel “N” was apprehended by officers from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC)—the agency headed by Omar García Harfuch—at 12:52 AM this Friday.

It was reported that “El Capitán Sol” is currently being transferred under the custody of the Attorney General’s Office (FGR).
