A pregnant woman lost her life after being the victim of a direct armed attack on the morning of Monday, September 28, in the Ampliación 12 de Octubre neighborhood, in Los Mochis, Sinaloa.
The victim was identified as Fernanda Gastélum, 31 years old, with a degree in Primary Education.
According to the first security reports and a video, a hitman arrived at the place where the woman was, shot her at close range and then fled.
A family member took her aboard a private vehicle to a private hospital to receive medical attention; However, he entered the emergency room without vital signs.
Because she was seven months pregnant, medical staff performed an emergency cesarean section in an attempt to save the baby, who also did not survive.
The crime generated the mobilization of security corporations and personnel from the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) of Sinaloa, while members of feminist groups demanded the classification of the case as feminicide and the prompt clarification of the facts to find the whereabouts of the aggressor.
Ministerial agents and forensic experts began processing the different scenes and collecting evidence to integrate the corresponding investigation folders.
