A joint operation involving personnel from the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the Secretariat of National Defense (SEDENA), the Secretariat of the Navy (SEMAR), and the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) resulted in the discovery, seizure, and dismantling of a camp used by cartel gunmen in the municipality of Mazatlán, Sinaloa.
The discovery was made during ground reconnaissance and preventive intelligence operations that federal security agencies are conducting in the region.
Upon detecting the makeshift facility, security forces implemented intervention protocols and secured the perimeter.
At the site, authorities seized four long guns, 31 magazines, four vests with ballistic plates, and various pieces of tactical equipment.
Additionally, an improvised explosive device (IED) was found in the area, requiring the intervention of explosive ordnance disposal specialists to handle and neutralize it safely.
After removing the weaponry and supplies, federal personnel destroyed and disabled the camp to prevent its reuse by criminal cells. No arrests were made during the operation.
The seized weaponry, ammunition, tactical gear, and explosive device were turned over to the Federal Public Prosecutor at the FGR’s Sinaloa delegation; the prosecutor’s office opened an investigation file to conduct ballistic analysis and determine the origin of the confiscated items.
