In a nighttime operation designed to capture him, officers from the Western Vehicle Theft Unit and the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) arrested “El Bimbollo,” a notorious member of the “Hobbits” criminal group specializing in car theft.
Jesús Guadalupe—alias “El Bimbollo” or “El Lupis”—became infamous a few months ago after footage surfaced showing him and an accomplice stealing a Jeep Cherokee parked outside the Walmart in the Hidalgo neighborhood; the vehicle was equipped with a surveillance camera mounted on the rearview mirror. The pair of criminals was recorded during their getaway, during which they chatted and boasted about their “feat.”
On the night of September 15, amidst national holiday celebrations, “El Bimbollo” was arrested outside the Little Rock bar on Benito Juárez Boulevard, following a two-week surveillance operation tracking the car that apparently belonged to him.
It is worth noting that the “Hobbits” member had fled the city after the video of the theft went viral on social media, only to return to Mexicali a few days ago. Upon detecting his presence in the municipality, investigators arrested him during a special operation.
“El Bimbollo” is believed to be linked to multiple vehicle theft cases, and additional charges could be filed following his arrest.
