A date arranged via social media led to the kidnapping, physical assault, and extortion of a man in the municipality of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, according to investigations conducted by the State Attorney General’s Office (FGEG).
According to the official investigation, the events began on August 7, 2026, when the victim went to the Cieneguita bridge after agreeing to meet via a digital platform.
At the location, a woman identified as Litsi Abigail had the victim get into an SUV to take him to a property in the community of Don Juan, where Sergio Abraham subsequently took over driving the vehicle.
During his captivity, the victim was driven to various locations across San Miguel de Allende and Dolores Hidalgo; along the way, he was physically assaulted and threatened with violence against his family. His captors took his cash, cell phone, and personal belongings, and attempted to coerce him into joining a drug trafficking criminal organization.
After managing to escape his captors, the victim sought help from the authorities, enabling the initiation of investigative proceedings and the subsequent arrest of both suspects.
Litsi Abigail and Sergio Abraham appeared before a Control Judge, who ordered them bound over for trial on charges of aggravated kidnapping and imposed justified preventive detention as a precautionary measure while the supplementary investigation proceeds.
