The Sonora State Attorney General’s Office (FGJES) announced in a statement released on September 16, 2026, that it has solved the murder of content creator José Luis Esparza—better known on social media as “El Piturris”—which took place on September 10 at a taco shop in Ciudad Obregón, in the municipality of Cajeme.
On September 14, state authorities arrested 21-year-old Felipe Alberto “N” and 26-year-old Iram José “N,” stating that the crime was linked to a dispute between groups involved in small-scale drug trafficking.
The alleged perpetrators were arrested following a pursuit of a high-end vehicle, inside which authorities seized several firearms. Confirmatory ballistic analysis determined that one of the confiscated weapons—a .40 caliber SIG SAUER pistol—was the same gun used to kill “El Piturris,” and that the same weapon had been used the previous day, September 9, in a homicide in the community of El Conti, within the district of Cócorit.
